Usual yoy increase to monthly salary is few hundred dollars but nothing near $1k.
I would estimate as 5% or less unless you’re promoted or they decided on one-off upward pay adjustment that year.

Hi all, I am considering to apply for a DD position here and would like to check with y'all if HR would even consider me - I have working experience in the private sector of 6+ years drawing about 10.1k SGD/month, excluding all bonuses. DD seems to be a relatively senior position so I would like to hear you guys out.

Maybe to add more context about myself, I am a professional from a MNC and the job scope for the DD position I am looking out for seems to be exactly what I am doing.

Quick answers:
1. DD is not really a “relatively senior” position.
2. Context: below is the hierarchy structure. DD can comprise those who progressed from associate (7-10 years; fixed progression between A to AD but not for DD) or appointed as mid-careers (external hires who have 7-10 or more yoe). Only DD2 and above will start to have managerial responsibilities (e.g. team leader which is similar to line manager).
As you will see from MAS org chart available for download on MAS website, the next supervisory role after team leader is division head. As the number of divisions to head is limited, some DDs the organisation sees as promising may be promoted ahead to division head, while some senior Director grade may remain as team leader. The explanation why is beyond my pay grade.
Regardless, you will also see from the org chart that the number of depts and groups to head are also limited, so unless you are exceptional, most farmers career progression will plateau somewhere in the DD range; those who got an early start as division head or department head (ED) may stay there until retirement or until they are superseded by younger ones. Others have observed that most of those who progress into senior management (AMD and above) are usually born and bred MAS folks; I can understand the sentiment behind this but again further commentary is beyond my pay grade.
Associate -> AD (2 grades) -> DD (4 grades) -> D (2 grades) -> ED -> AMD -> DMD -> MD
3. Coming back to your question, it is not impossible for HR to appoint you as DD and match your pay, but it is likely to be entry grade DD with no people management responsibilities. Since forum is not manned by HR, you can only know for sure if you apply, as it will also depend on what value the hiring MAS department places on your skills and experience.
As you have no mentioned what is your background other than being from an MNC, those with economics/finance/business generally opt for one of the fin reg departments (possibly payments or development too), the rest into corporate functions which should be self-explanatory from org chart. It is not really too difficult to get into certain MAS departments which do not require specialist qualifications, in my view, as they are always on the lookout for headcount to replace outgoing staff or take on new projects.
5. There is loads more discussion on DD salary and progression in previous pages. When we are free we will find for you but in the meantime kindly do your homework and scroll back to do your own reading.

Some peeps experience has been positive. It all comes down to
- who you report to (whether they like you and their treatment of you if they do not like you - how a person handles power & authority reveals a lot about their character), followed by
- your teammates (most are supportive but you will also encounter the competitive sabotagers / wayang wannabes).
The people factor trumps any job satisfaction from the opportunity to do meaningful work in MAS (take note JD may also differ from what you thought it would be - if you ask me the description on job portals is not very clear on all the rather random, time-consuming assignments which may come your way), as the colleagues in your immediate surroundings have direct input into whether your mental feed at MAS is mostly positivity or negativity.

This fella may just be mindfuxking u, which is an example of some ppl here, but then again, he/she may be right .
Anyway, it's individual choice to join or not. Bear in mind that change is the only constant here, i.e. bosses, and thus u may experience good AND bad seasons. Up to you!

In general agree, but be mindful that most "supportive" colleagues are also conditional. Do not be surprise if they start distancing from you or throw you under the bus when you have a different opinion to theirs and more so if your difference can so jeopardize their promotion (even if you may be right).
This is indeed a very political arena, which you are likely going to spend your days doing, instead of real work, much less meaningful work.

I just joined MAS as an experienced hire as AD. I am wondering how I can check if I was shortchanged by HR. Spoke to a few experienced hires who are getting 9k range and I’m getting way lower than that.
