With 5,6 exp it is not difficult to be offered AD2 which is the higher AD grade. The range for AD2 is quite wide and can go up to 10k odd. You may come in with AD2 but MAS will moderate your pay with same grade officers after you come in - ie. You may get less increment than your peers to get you to more or less same level. If MAS thinks well enough of you after you are in, you will get increments that will set you on track to DD1 pay scale.

AD2 is the grade that many will start to get stuck in. So even if you join 9k as AD2, if mas is not planning to promote you further you get miserable increments while your AD2 peers catch up and maybe exceed you if they make DD1

Same idea, even if you happen to draw 6.5k but with 6 years experience. MAS may offer you AD2 with 7k. If you are good, in the 4 years you will get increments that put you close to10k for DD1
