I got the offer last september. I'm from ntu. non scholar.

Hi, got a call from DSTA HR 2 weeks after interview, saying I am shortlisted but will take 1 week for contract preparation and once signed, another 1 month for security clearance and medical checks.

I have another offer from private sector and I need to reply them by this week, any chances DSTA will withdraw from accepting me? what are the chances of failing the security clearance and medical checks?

i'm gonna ask a quite sensitive qn - about race/religion to be exact. i'm aware that there are indians or china-turned-SG citizen in dsta. but are there any muslim/malay engineers in dsta/dso? hoping to hear from any current/ex- dsta/dso engineers

How long does the g50 clearance take? Will hr offer before or after the g50 clearance

I was DSTA scholar. 1st class honours and masters degree.
started in 2007 at 3.2k
left once bond ended in 2011 at 5.5k. there were two major salary scale adjustments while I was there, so do not assume annual increment to be that high. normal annual increment was around 5%.

prospect was probably good for me as scholar, but personally wanted new challenges other than just continuing with defence-related project work, for which the skills were, frankly, not that easily transferable. most fellow scholars left soon after bond due to similar considerations.

but some of the posts here regarding salary increment seem out of this world, unless DSTA has changed so much in these few years

--Which month in 2007 did you join DSTA ?


I graduate from NTU in 2007 June/July with engineering.

From what I know from my friends joining DSTA from Jun07 onward, the starting pay that time is as follow:

Engineer
1st class = (3880 with NS), (3580 non-NS)
2nd upper = (3580 with NS), (3280 non-NS)
2nd lower = (3280 with NS), (2980 non-NS)



Feel funny that your 3.2k for 1st class doesn't match any of my figure as stated.
