DSO security clearance
Hi I am currently undergoing security clearance (G50) ! But since security clearance takes a long time (2-3 months), I’m getting paranoid about if I fail the security clearance after I have waited so long.
May I ask are there any factors which may cause one to fail the security clearance? For example, not singaporean born parent or relative in other countries?
Context: My dad and I are born in SG. My mum is born in China and converted over to Singapore citizen long ago. My immediate family members have a clean record. Relatives in China not working in Chinese government (worried if relatives in another countries influences my security clearance).

Furthermore, I heard if ur parents are not SG born, it lowers your chances of security clearance as well. So I am worried about how these factors may negatively affect my security clearance

No one knows exactly how far they will dig for security clearance. U can't change the fact that your maternal family members might affect your chances. So why worry about it?

Yes no one knows the matrix of factors they will take into consideration, so no point speculating. Other than the simple fact of being born foreigner, I suppose daily activities and who they currently associate with will also play a part in assessing risk. They may also check those references you put down (above all just guessing, don’t know for sure)
Since you can’t control the process which is already underway and it’s not public information, what you can control is your own conduct such as your daily activities, including things you post here Layman speaking

Similar situation as u as well (not under DSTA, but the parental ministry tho). I even have friends that are not Singaporeans as I studied in an overseas uni lol. Was also wondering if it’s gonna delay the clearance process tho….. Currently it’s been about 7 weeks since start of G50.
