LMAO the growth of this thread is astounding. Other agencies 100 pages over like 5 years, we jitao hit 100 pages within 2 years. And currently one new page per two days XD.

As someone who used to work in a department that gets whacked regularly in this thread, I can tell you that not everyone will receive by default. I have witnessed hardworking people who got nothing because they were graded unfavourably by their directors. On the other hand, there are people who know how to bootlick and got rewarded well. But I'm just a small fry so what can I do? Leaving IMDA is the least I can do to detach myself from this unjust system of rewarding people which I don't acknowledge.

The short answer to your question is no because you will need to put up an act year after year to be entitled to it.

Pls don't compare CSA with IMDA

IMDA is way out of CSA (and govtech) league

I'm writing this here because glassdoor automatically restricts my post from being published. Tried it thrice and it's like that.

Pros:

vending machine that dispenses biscuits, granola bars and cup noodles for free

corporate pass to visit attractions like zoo

Cons:

long walk from labrador mrt station, 10 mins for those aged under 30, 12 mins for those aged 30-50, 15 mins for those aged 50 and above

ARC is a tiny mall, limited food and shopping options.

yes-man environment - typical north korea style, make sure you cheer and clap when your boss speaks.

toxic culture - everyone is backstabbing and frontstabbing one another

wayang culture - need to have acting skills and showmanship to impress senior management

talent drain - barely anyone with tech or media background in the workforce

abortive work - this CE is well-known to be indecisive. Directors don't know what he wants and those at the bottom have to waste time redoing.

no work life balance - there are people who have con call on sunday morning while others have it on weekdays but at 10pm. you will also get random texts from bosses in the evenings.

fake positivity - look at IMDA linkedin and compare it with this forum and glassdoor

useless HR - don't even need to explain, the whole department is poop

cronyism + favourtism - the bootlickers are loved by management, get promoted rapidly despite a lack of achievements

questionable stats - strategy is to think of innovative ways to pump up stats to look good.

bloated workforce - the entire workforce can be streamlined as there are too many "extra" people earning taxpayer money

fend for yourself - bosses will push their staff to work on projects by themselves and present to the top. if good, boss take credit. if bad, boss vanish and you get screwed.

makes your resume look bad - because it has a bad reputation and everyone in public sector is mocking it

Is anyone a member of AUPE and tried highlighting the state of IMDA to the union? I'm not a member so I'm not sure how it works. Raising issues internally to the HR people is pointless so I'm just wondering if the union can help us. If yes, please share your experience and whether it actually helps. Thanks in advance.

They won't do anything one la.

Unions in Singapore already so cui....union in public sector even more nothing to say.

Besides, most of the posts are simply complaints against lousy management / lousy HR, which any company may also encounter.

Unless your organization is doing something outrageous (anyhow sack many people, never pay salary on time, cut salaries for no reason), the union will not intervene.
