Curious to know what level or title is middle manager??

Manager

Hi went for an interview with CSA for manager position. What should my expected salary be and what MX? About 5 years experience in civil service.

Unregistered 27-06-2019 01:48 PM

Is CSA overworked? Hows the work life balance and turnover rate? They hiring quite aggressively based on careers @ Gov?

Either you are MX or not MX. If MX -> Manager equals MX 12. Follow the MX Scheme banding found elsewhere on this website, I think it is still the same.

If cybersecurity scheme, then probably same + approx 15%?

No work life balance unless you are Legolas. Turnover rate quite high for a government agency.

Normal. but in this industry, normal means hard to replace.

Just for sharing:

Recent townhall session mentioned that the CSP scheme will mirror GovTech (alphabet grades)

Diploma holders coming in at CSP1 grade will be offered approx $2500

Retention bonus will be scraped and factored into base pay instead.

So it might seem like a pay raise on the surface. But actually the package is essentially the same.

I suppose it just means if you want big bucks, please go private sector :)

Alphabet grades? correspond to what MX??

Unregistered 03-07-2019 08:05 PM

Alphabet grading doesn't have direct mapping to MX scheme as it is considered specialist scheme and thus commands higher pay.

Unregistered 25-07-2019 03:44 PM

Depends on division. Generally, the org is very political. If you want to survive, you need to make good friends with those holding high positions.

You've just described 80% of the organisations out there :P

Unregistered 25-07-2019 04:47 PM

Thank you for your valuable insight!

Would you consider taking up an offer for manager, non tech (do paperwork), non cyber (not IT related role) for 5k? About 5 years unrelated experience to cyber security and IT.

Non techs are under the mx scheme so are treated as generalist. so the pay you describe is inline with that scheme. If you want to break into cyber through this path, it is a uphill task.

Unregistered 25-07-2019 06:14 PM

Not aiming to do any tech work or cyber work! So no intention of trying get IT skills too. Am just concerned if I am able to have a 830-6pm job with minimal OT as I got kids and other obligations

Well CSA is still a relatively new organisation so that makes it worse than those 80%.

It depends on your division.
