Default Recognition of US Univerisities

I'm going to be studying in the US for universitiy but I wanted to know about the recognition of a US degree by local emplyoers.

I will be studying at a respected engineering school in the US (top 10), most likely studying Computer Science. Do local employers prioritise local graduates or am I on equal footing? Also does getting an engineering degree put me in a disadvantage if I plan on entering the financial sector? I know that in the US, engineering students have no problems entering finance and even have an advantage over business students in some cases but I'm worried that isn't the case in Singapore.

And if engineering isn't the best path to finance any thoughts on NYU? Specifically the college of arts and science not stern. I will be doing economics and math if I study at NYU.
