jgm re your question on the difference between legal service manager, legal officer, advocate and solicitor and lawyer:
legal service manager, legal officer would both refer to inhouse lawyers who work as employees of companies. They usually have titles such as the above or Legal advisor, Corporate counsel etc.
advocate and solicitor would refer to lawyers in private practice who coud be employed by a law firm or be self employed.
Lawyer is extremely vague and could refer to any of the above.
