Default Marketing in FMCG Sector

A little profile on myself:A marketing major, but with SIM GE's RMIT Programme.
2 years work experience..was in the premium gift retail industry doing general marketing and now doing marketing communications in the F&B industry...Aspire to be in the FMCG sector in the near future...

Like those in the banking sector, the investment banking segment is seen as the pinnacle of the banking sector. Marketing wise, FMCG marketing is highly coveted and matches my interest & career objectives. Would like to seek fellow forumers' advice and experience on how i may enter this sector with my background and experiences...my own research tells me that it's quite hard. I was offered a logistics role with one of the most prominent FMCG players in local market but wasn't considered for a marketing role due to lack of relevant experience, that was during my graduate job search. How do i counter that? Appreciate for insights and tips from fellow practitioners/seniors in the industry .
