I want join a government linked company. I guess some background criminal and finance check is necessary. This position I applied has a walk in job fair every 3 months. This position need to attend 5 month class before actual start work.

I managed to get a referral interview with my friend recommendation. During the end of the interview, the hr asked if I can wait untill end feb as the class start that time. And also need pass health screening before offer. Hr ask wait for 1–2 weeks.

After two weeks with no update, I email hr asking if I was rejected or pending approval. Hr replied,”we are preparing a salary packaging for you and pending approval. We will reached out to you once it's approved”. Should I ask for deadline or wait till last week of Feb. Or they just gathered enough candidate to start the class and do all offer letter and health screening within that week.
