It is simple math:
Assume no promotion in the company after 3 years, with 4% annual increment:
2900 x 1.04^3 = 3262 >>> jump ship 20% more = 3914
4000 x 1.04^3 = 4499 >>> jump ship 20% more = 5398
see the difference!!!
