'Slogging it out' is a con to keep the minions happy. Same with 'slog now, reap the rewards later as a partner'. Or 'steady increments every year'. etc etc.

As professional services, all juniors are merely units of production. Partners pocket the profits.

Its a pyramid mah. The base must support the top of the pyramid.

Questions to ask yourself are: what are the odds of making it to the top of the pyramid? Is there a reason why most of the base never makes it to the top? Is it by design, and if so, what are my real chances?
