I did some math and assumed that I wasn't promoted to MX11 few years back and that the usual % of MI is applied to my MX12 salary across the past few years. I found out that I will get around the same salary as an MX12 after the 9% adjustment as compared to my salary today AFTER the adjustment.
Based on my projection, if I remained an MX12 and got promoted only after this salary revision, I would end up with a higher salary. In other words, I am made worse off because I was promoted too early. Sigh.

Its never a bad thing to be promoted early. Your PB is a different quantum compared to mx12. You will also be likely to be considered for another promo again faster like a snowball effect.
