For me, I'm looking to (i) regain market value, (ii) improve prospects, and equally important (ii) find something that is a better match in terms of skill-sets. Doesn't necessarily mean working in a bank. I would also be enthusiastic about working for a corporation if they have jobs that are a good fit for me.
TJS was an admin officer. He would most likely have been able to afford a bungalow had he remained in service.
