They both are different. Psychiatrist prescribes medication while psychologist provides therapy and/or counselling. Usually you need to see both for an effective treatment. I went to private before and the doctor that I saw is the most unempathetic and judgemental doctor ever. My mistake for not choosing a doctor properly. And plus private is very expensive and they only care about money cause more patients = more money I guess (like a business) unlike the government sector you are paid a fixed monthly salary despite the number of patients you see (high or low).
