Currently doing my RLT and really struggling. I got so used to living in the UK I’m finding it very hard to adjust back to Sg life/work. I applied for RLTs just bc everyone else in my Uni (Sgeans in the UK) was doing it and was lucky enough to get a RLT with decent pay. I accepted it without much thought but am really regretting it now.

Got into a relationship with a guy from the UK in my last year of Uni and by then already accepted my RLT. Tried applying for TCs in the UK but it was too late, and the city my boyfriend is in has very few companies that sponsor work visas. Currently not sure what to do. Doing the whole Long distance thing and it’s going fine right now but I know it won’t be sustainable in the Long run (Long OTs, can’t take leave, need to save up for flight tix).

Anyway that aside, I’m not fond of the firm I’m with (everyone’s unfriendly, area of law is really boring, and I don’t think I’m performing well), and it’s making me question if I really want to be a lawyer. I have been offered a masters in the uk starting in 2020. Should I just tahan my RLT and Part A and then do my masters and give applying for TCs/jobs in the UK another go? Struggling with SG work culture and not sure if the area of law I’m in right now is the be all end all for me. Feel like I’m being Pigeon holed into liti and am not enjoying it.

Going back to UK seems enticing - buys me time to figure out what I want to do, can do a reverse 360 on my life and settle down there, etc. On the other hand, it seems risky and also means I’ve wasted 1 year doing RLT and Part A. Then again, The firm I’m with said that they can’t promise retention so I need a back up plan anyway but feel quite overwhelmed.

Thoughts?????
