When finally in Rome you will know what the Romans do. Don't worry and just blend in. Anyway if you are a DXO you are not required to abide by many rules uniformed regulars must abide, most commonly the salute and sir.
Don't be too afraid to make mistakes, just blend in buddy. Some people are rank conscious coz they worked hard to finally reach the rank to be called Sir... Then u make them happy and salute them lor...
