Overpaid civil sector damage countries, is a burden to the country and kills innovation in the longer term. Examples are Greece. Sg does not make money from innovation and has little of it. Much damage has already been done. My civil sector friends who have good ideas say, why should they take the risk to innovate and run companies when they earn easy 100k iron rice bowl job in public sector? They cannot do both because civil servants cannot set up own pte ltd. There is no point to do that when they have good civil income too. They know they are overpaid to get votes for government. They do not mind. The country is in slow decline in part to this. They can quit to other countries later because they have the money to do so. They cannot fix the problem so it is best they benefit and earn from it rather then be left out.
