I have an army friend recently left his job at a big four firm and went in house. He usually works until 2am and cabs home, and go back to work at 9am. He is planning to start a family soon and want to have more work-family balance.

You guys are lawyers, I am not a lawyer. But I believe many students still aspire to be lawyers. By all means study law, but understand the market. Many industries are saturated now and even lawyers can decide to have a career change some point in their life.
