I'm turning 50 soon. I'm way ahead of my peers. I've decided to retire to pursue many things which I had no time for. I'm also devoting my time to charity work to help those in need. It is time for me to give back to society not only locally but globally. Before I die, I want help as many poor people as possible. Being rich is not only a privilege but it is a responsibility. I'm blessed with wealth and it is my responsibility to share my wealth with the needy.

If on the other hand, the knowledge turns you into a jealous monster and you start to heap insults on others, now thats defeatist attitude. With this kind attitude, you will never progress and grow.

Conversely, if you find that you are well ahead of others, you may want to reward yourself and your family/ friends with some treats once in a while. Contribute more to charity or even consider early retirement for more "me" time.

Compare with an open mind. There is always something to pick up.
