Good to know that the US MNC told you about the Chinese Guy they hired. And I appreciate their openness in admitting that you were more talented, but they hired the chinese bcus he is a Cheaper Option. Any dignified person would not join this MNC.

Karlena Hi all

thanks for the invaluable advice. I'll be staying in my old job since that US MNC decided to hire a chinese national instead, since he's cheaper....

However, I will be asking for a transfer instead for a more project based job.

i sugguest...you ask yourself what you want after 10 years down the road at 44.
I guess if you are a parent, 10 years down the road your kid will be 10 yrs old and you need more time to take care of child. thus at NCS your have better pay, stable year pay rise. No need to thing of money problemsCompare to the pay your are getting now is definently better then the US MNC ,

From my experience now i also in US MNC , i came from SI where i need to do the bao ga liao things, when i came this US MNC for the first year i clean up the IT infrastructure in the local site and after two years here i realize my efforts are not rewarding me. I was hire base on diploma and after i got my degree, no pay rise and recently i found out that my colleague (PR) who have been here for more then 10 years everyday cho bo is getting the same performance bonus percentage as me.......so i guess our performance review was a fake screw up.
There are a lot of Lackeys espically local ones who will be taking advantage of you and the MNC heads likes them regardless they have ability or not.

I think there are good US MNCs out there where they can offer good career opportunities and i hope that the one taht you are going is one of them, as for me i guess after my bond is up, its time for me to go. After all sometimes you must think.....WILL your boss be afraid that you are better then him?? what's the company's culture like?

Unregistered My friend was from NCS, working hours were good, pay and bonus so-so. He hardly needed to OT and he could leave office early at 4.30 to 5pm to attend his full time masters class.

He has since left NCS for a big 4 accounting firm after completing his masters in Financial Engineering.

deadman then it depends on yourself wat u wan lor..
since finacially, u able to sustain, i suggest you go ahead and try work in the mnc and see how

Karlena That is 1 of my concerns as well. i can already see myself forgetting some things while loboing here. If I ever have to change job again, I might forget how to do certain things at the new place, stuff that I knew how to do in the first place.

being too lobo is bad for health. i know of many who quit their high paying jobs because they want more sense of fulfillment, whatever that means.

Karlena Thanks for the advice

Currently I am working in NCS and stationed in a ministry. I wouldn't call it stat board or anything. It's stable, but mind-boggling brainless though. 10% of my time I spend on any real technical stuff. 90% is protect backside....

Regarding what you say about US MNCs offering only 13th month bonus, the pay they offer already has 13th month included. Do you think there will be any more variable bonus?

My question here is what is the working culture like for MNCs? Will we be like 2nd class citizens (and have crap that nobody wants to do thrown at us)?

My current job is with NCS, and posted to 1 of the ministries. I am concerned that I am brain rotting here but then I am 34, and just had a 5 month old baby, so I am quite wary about changing jobs. However I am also financially stable and can tahan without a job for at least 1 year.

Any advice is appreciated as i believe that I am at the crossroads of my life

Thanks.

P.S. I have been looking around the forum but I don't think I seen anyone working in NCS. I am trying to find out what was the average variable bonus that was given to IT professionals around my level, so that I can compare to my (potentially) new job's pay package.

Local US MNCs, from what i know do not offer you US pay packages (obviously) So you are sort of like a 2nd class. Their bonus is not fantastic either, being a 13th month only or so for most MNCs. (us mnc do not believe in 13th month generally ) And is hugely performance based.

I would cosnider staying on if i were you since you have a 5 month old baby now. Not for the money but for the time you will be able to spend with your kid as compared to a MNC. I am sure you can take leave or watsoever quite easily in your current stats board job
