Is it true that government agencies under ministry of finance are good paymasters?

Acra, Iras, Tote Board, AGD.

Ministry Of Finance - About Us

I just realized Singapore Customs in under MOF! But their uniform makes them look like they're from Home Team.

Default Stat Board under MEWR

Hi,

Currently working at the above. Join them in Aug 2007 as fresh grad from NTU, BEng(Mech), 2nd Lower. Start pay 2850. In 2011, getting 3670. Is this normal?

I suppose by this Aug2012, you will have 5 years exp with NEA i suppose.

-do you have any promotion, if yes how many
-how much is your annual increment(%), promotion increment(%)
-how many month of bonus(inclusive AWS)

are you male with NS?

However, that would mean that the private sector actually has been earning consistently more since 2008 (year of the last major pay revision for those on the management executive scheme (MXS). Wonder how true is that.
Of course not true. While the 'high' in private sector can be very high, the majority of the private sector jobs are not paying as well as govt ones, for jobs with comparable level of responsibilities, scope, real/actual working hours and demand.

generally slow compared to ministries. even if you consider 3 instead of 4 increments, it's about 800/3=266/yr which is quite low.

I don't think this is slow. Yearly increment of 200 plus is about the average in a stat board for someone who has worked for 4 years.

I agree with you. Govt sector jobs pays well and will continue to be so for many years to come because they are subject to less competition from the global talent pool. Real wages for the average worker in pte sector will be driven down by these competition and only those at the top get the cherries.
