Two categories - (1) are you FCH, Dean lister?
(2) are you connected, chiseled face and buff for guys or petite, pretty and young for girls? Do you have an accent?
If you don’t have (1) or (2), difficult to survive

Can explain what’s the basis for those factors?
I don’t have 1 and 2.
Means I shouldn’t apply for big 4 tc?

Tell you that working in a law firm is not law school where you study and work hard you do well. Law firm are businesses - they need business from people (whoever, whatever).
The trainee whose parents give the firm $500k worth of business every year, the pretty young female lawyer that is very presentable in a big kickoff meeting, or large board meeting - this is law firm. It’s a business. Without revenue it can’t survive.
Trainees who go in by their own merit have to work very hard to prove their worth. You are young. You will see the reality

this is a very straightforward question. just apply to legal service. decent pay, good benefits, and good work-life balance. whether you can get in is another question altogether though.

Yup they've reduced their intake dramatically over the past few years. Life is so good in there nobody wants to leave.

Yeah legal service 4.5k (no front loading) - 6:30pm latest
Big four 5.6-6k (front loaded) - 1am regularly, all nighters occasional
U decide. But... even some FCH can’t get in Legal service. So you’ve been put to strict notice thereof

Are you new to this industry? Law firms dont really have work life balance. If have, likely the firms got not much business and you can prepare to bye bye.
Work life balance either in house or legal service.
