Every year-end, I will hear fellow colleagues (permanent staffs) taking about how they are going to use the bonuses to go for a trip to Europe, buy an Xbox 360 for their kids, go dining in a fancy restaurant, make the payment for a new car,... etc.
I can only keep quiet and listen to them talk. Not able to participate. It's a very lonely experience.
Worst thing is that most native Singaporeans are contract workers and foreigners are permanent staffs.
