I don't understand how you managed to do the following.

1) In all applications, one is asked to write who is your current employer and whether you allow HR to contact them?
Did you mention - No or Yes.

2) One is generally required to list name of 2-3 people who can be contacted to confirm or verify your background/work done etc. If so, did you write the names from your current company or whose names did you put in?

Hi,

To answer your questions:

1) Yes, usually for job applications, we need to write our current employer etc, but this company I'm joining is a start-up, so their interview process is completely different from the more established companies. However, because I've only worked at my current (this crappy one) company for 3+ weeks, I didn't bother putting it in resume and only told them verbally.

2) Again, this company I'm joining soon do not have such application forms, theirs is a very informal one. However, during the past one month when I applied and went for many interviews every week, I did encounter cases where they ask me to list references etc.
I gave them references from my previous company (the company I was in fr 2.5 years before I joined the current crappy one).

Hope that answers your questions

I've just handed in my resignation letter to my immediate superior but he's pretending nothing happened, act blur and say will get back to me in 5 mins blah blah blah but no news.
Should I inform my boss's boss (founder of company) instead? New job starting tomorrow and need to leave today.

sorry for hijacking the thread, but I'm facing a similar situation as TS.

I got an offer from a statboard (A) and just signed the letter of appointment. However because of my notice period for my current employer, my start date for the new job is 3 months away.

Now another statboard (B) that I interviewed a couple months ago came back to me and offer me the position. They explained they've gone through internal restructuring thus the delay in processing. The new offer and job scope are both better than the one I just signed. I'm very tempted to bail the offer from A and take this new offer.

I recall during my discussion with the HR of statboard A when signing the letter of appointment, if somehow I eventually end up not start working with them, I need to refund medical check up expenses. I didn't ask further of other consequences because at that time I wasn't thinking of such possibilities. Now that I do face this possibility, I'd like to ask those experienced what other repercussions it may incur if I choose to bail the signed letter of appointment and take another offer. Especially consider that both are statboard, though under different ministry, will there be internal talks between them and I end up losing both and burn bridge to all public service jobs in the future? I presume if I bail statboard A I definitely burned bridge with it already.

My experience so far with stat boards is that they don't even communicate internally amongst themselves within the same stat board, much less with other stat boards.

I imagine if you are cordial about it, you are unlikely to get blacklisted in any way.

thanks a lot for the info. I also feel that even within one stat board, different groups rarely communicate and they even use different HR sub teams.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am a fresh grad from an Aus uni (Commerce degree majored in Accounting) who just received an offer from an MNC for an Analyst role in their Accounting Department. I am in the same situation as I am waiting on an offer from a big 4 firm's management consulting practice but have been given a deadline of next week. I am unsure whether the consulting firm will get back to me by then. What would be the best thing to do?

From what I understand big 4 salaries are relatively standard but the MNC's offer is above my expected salary at 4k plus benefits. Is this generally acceptable for an accounting role? I am anticipating that the consulting job will draw about low 3k at the very max.

I only see Hr wanting to contact references which you list in the application form, provided that 1 of them is past employer. I was told that HR will not contact your current employer if you have not tender your resignation yet. I'm not too sure whether they will check on you while serving notice. Any HR personnel can clarify?

Will be resigning on Monday. What I would like to know is: if my current employer asks me which company I'm going to work for next, should I tell them the truth? Can I not? Or should I list down a few names and tell them I might be going to any one of those?

Might be rude to keep silent if they try to press, which is the nature of this current company. Personally, I rather not say, but well...
H Nik, facing the same problem as U. Did u tell the interviewers that u are currently in the role for a month only? And what did u say when they ask u why u wanna leave?
