I heard from someone working in the Samsung wafer fab in korea that their typical work week is:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Friday and Friday.
No weekends.

Wafer fab or other manufacturing job is like that, especially for technical staff like engineering support role, etc. After all, the operations are 24-hr, 7-day week, non-stop, except only for annual shutdown for major facilities maintenance. And ironically that's the time the engineering support will be the busiest!!
Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China fabs all have this exploitative culture, so I've heard.
Want to work in tech company or fab? Can. But be sure to take up non-technical roles like HR, Finance, Admin, Legal, etc. Ha ha ha...
