advice on ministry hiring process

hey guys, i just want to ask some advice on ministry hiring process. i got an interview, and after two weeks, still no response. is it safe to say i'm gonna get a rejection letter? called up HR but they told me they are still processing background checks and it will take two more weeks to give me a reply if there is lollll.

mine has been 3 months since i've undertaken my medical. two weeks ago, they requested for my latest payslip and IR8A though and now still awaiting reply. they have yet to reject me and my status is still stated as "shortlisted".

may i ask which ministry are u applying for?

nah i think my case is different from yours. at least if they ask you to go for a medical, it means it's kind of confirmed right? i didn't even get a verbal offer.

I applied for a ministry job in the past.. and it took them one month to call me to inform me that I was shortlisted.

I share the same experience with u, gingerbreadman. Waiting for news on the 2nd interview (if there is) for 2 weeks but no update. Pratically speaking, 2 weeks wait seems kind of long for a 2nd interview? Don't think i'm selected though. From what i've gathered from forums, not all hr will update your application status on the careers gov website, nor inform all shortlisted candidates if they are unsuccessful. So yeah, the rejection letter/email/notification might nv come.

How did your interview go? Perhaps from there you can gauge the chances of making through to the next round.

thanks! good luck to you! yeah, i agree. i've applied to other public service jobs and the application status on careers@gov is totally not reliable? my experience is that usually after a month or so, the rejection email will come. i had one that came after two months from a stat board.

the interview i had was fine, i guess not outstanding enough!

if the ministry ask me to go for health check up, does it mean that I am being selected for the job? will there be another round of interview after the check up?

That's what I heard as well. But then for my case, nothing is confirmed until i receive the confirmation.

really anxiously waiting for the reply. it's taken so long for me.

That's quite weird. Usually if they ask u to go for medical checkup then should be selected. Don't think they will waste money and time on the checkup but don't select you.

Not entirely true. Sometimes they do ask people to go for check-up before selecting them. Say for example HR has 20 applicants to process. Process one by one will be quite slow. So they process the first 10 and tell the next 10 to go for medical check-up first. After the first 10 is sifted through, the successful ones go for medical and get hired. By that time, the next 10 behind them have finished medical and now HR will process. So HR still can and sometimes will reject those who have already finished medical.
