Change job salary increment?
Hi All,
Got a new job offer but work area in the east while I stay in the west. Travelling time will double to ~ 1.5hrs per trip. They are offering me 10% more pay. Is 10% increment the norm when changing job? Not sure if I should accept the offer. Any suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks

should ask at least 20% more of your current annual salary

personally i feel the 10% increment is not worth in terms of the amount of time n transport fees spent

10% will be enough to cover my transportation cost but may not be enough to cover my time spent on travelling... sigh...

based on increment alone i wont change. but i will consider other factors such as the prospect and the experience u will gain in the 2 jobs. no point staying if u will be stagnant in ur current drop. on the other hand, if u see urself having high potential moving up in current job den stay.

I'm in the same industry and live in the west too.
My coy is now in the north-east and traveling time is 1.5hrs. Furthermore employees are expected to be at the office by 8. At first I thought it was ok when I made the move here for 20% increment but I feel the burden of traveling and standing on the train for so long each day. So I suggest to ask for more...
I should be moving to a workplace in the west soon if all goes well thou!
