Was reading all your comments. I got a three year experience in shipping and logistics industry in finance. I would like to Leap into the SAP world by clearing SAP FI. Currently i am an expat in Singapore.

Will i get a job in SG being an Expat? will Small consultancies hire me?
Kindly advice
yes you will. Singapore is very foreigner-friendly. with your experience you should be asking for $9-12k per month nothing less, otherwise it is a waste of your experience and talents.

You cannot just study theory and buy that cert and no work exp and expect people to hire you as a "consultant"!!!
I concur with what was said above. My wife went through the same route. First company happen to implement SAP, learn the ropes with the hired consultants and went though the whole implementation cycle and when it ended.... the consulting company hired her but lousy pay... She worked hard and went though quite a few major implementation and finally got her big break.. An MNC hired her and gave her close to a 100% pay rise for easy job with her kind of experiences... Only by being a Consultant will you get valuable real world experience, certifications are for show unfortunately. You really need luck to break into this niche sector.... No luck then you just have to create you own luck... Keep finding you will eventually hit one. Unlike baseball where you have 3 tries.... This case.. You have unlimited attempts. Good luck.

*FYI, a freelance SAP consultant can earn up to 20k/mth. Consulting companies often subcontract these jobs to others...

By the way, abap is not the real deal in SAP. You have to be good in functional spec design/work flow. This is the real meat in SAP

maybe find a job as a user first?

certificates r mostly useless. ask uself how hard is it for u to get it in the first place. things like CFA r much better appreciated but look at the whole process of getting it.

that being said, I feel SAP is one of the most inflated software company as my company has been using its system for the past 10 years and it's full of problems not to mention the decade old interface that keeps remind me of computers in the last century.

Default Singapore companies with significant ABAP customized code

Happy New Year!

Looking for companies that roll up their sleeves and customize SAP modules in a significant way - using ABAP teams of 5 or more (fulltime, consultants - doesn't matter).

Would you please share some company names that you may know of - ideally with HQ-ed in Singapore.

Thank you,
Daniel

Hi! I think if your main problem is the absence of experience you must be interested in getting an entry-level SAP job on this freelance job board. It’s an excellent chance to start your career, build a portfolio, and make some money as a freelancer (this website has higher rates than other ones and no commission fee). I strongly recommend that you register there. It won’t hurt to try to find a freelance SAP job anyway.
