keppel is sort of a unique case I guess. because they are famous for the low basic pay and high bonus. some companies focus on higher basic salary and lower bonus. so its sorta a trade-off

go for high basic salary + low bonus compared to low basic salary + high bonus. This is if you intend to work in ministry/stat boards later on.
If you want to continue working in industry then anything that enchances your income is good and that means probably low basic salary + high bonus (that compensates low basic).

you will be allocated to one of the business unit for e 1st year, i.e. keppeland, offshore & marine, infrastructure or investments. then the next 0.5 year will be that business unit's overseas operations. and for the last 0.5 years, back to the HQ at kep corp.
after the 2 years prog. you can decide if u wan to go back to the business unit or stay in the HQ or try other business unit.

I really like the offer to be honest. I will most probably be going ahead with this job.
But i'm interviewing with Goldman Sach's Investment Banking and BG Group's Energy Marketing and Trading also.

$3.7k is considered low for a fresh grad? what are u comparing against?

don't be naive, they will groom u for an overseas posting, in one of their more hardship locations since it is so tough to hire singaporeans there.. it's not that bad if u have no commitments in singapore. just get the big title (deputy GM or the like if u are a 2-3 year exec), earn the high allowances, save up (cos there's nothing to spend there anyway).
do u honestly think u think they will let u choose to "go back to the biz unit or stay in HQ"?

all 3 companies here u have mentioned are so different. what kind of degree do u have?
if i had a choice i would go for the oil major but many others would choose IB. kep corp will be a distant 3rd for me, or something that i want to retire in.

put thing into perspective, the average median pay of working adults in SG is 3.4? so 3.7 as a starting pay, youre more well off than plenty of people out there..
the bonus looks too good at the keppel side though 4-8 months is quite alot...dont think stat boards would hit 4 months...maybe if u include mid year, year end, and performance bonus might hit 4 months?

Actually I know of quite a few stat boards that pays avg performers 4-5 mths bonus. This is inclusive of everything of course.
