Working Culture in IRAS

How is it like working in IRAS.

Is it all number crunching? sounds boring?

do they write papers? Does senior officers need to take minutes of meeting?

Yes to all your questions. Also, it is a scholar grooming place. you will see peers whom enter the same time as you becoming your boss in a few years time. you will not only take minutes, but also arrange the tables, preparing files, make sure the food cater suits the taste of the board when they meet, etc etc.

That is life in stat boards or the civil service. But you can take it positively, because you are exposed to upper management at those meetings.

hi all digging up an old thread..

anyone working in IRAS can tell me why some posts require both degree grads and diploma grads but the jobscope is the same? Do degree grads have to go frontline and do customer service too?

Thanks for any reply!

lol honestly no :p

but i have no idea why some posts have the same jobscopes but open to both degree holders and diploma holders at the same time..so i was thinking if it is similar to other stat boards where diploma holders man frontline duties while degree holders don't do frontline and do more of back office planning or other stuff..

how much does a director in IRAS earn including bonus? got S$150K a year?

Unregistered 23-07-2012 06:31 PM

A lot more than that because all of us have to pay taxes. They reaped the flushing cash from there!
