Default Singapore doctors- where else can they work?

Hello,

Which countries are Singaporean doctors with a medical degree (e.g. NUS or Duke-NUS) allowed to practice in? Have searched the forum but can't cant seem to find information on this.

Additionally, will having a postgraduate degree /specialist training from another country make a difference in this respect?

Thank you very much in advance!

Default Places to work

YLL MBBS and Duke/MD are recognised worldwide.

NZ
Comparable health system criteria

You just need to work in a health system comparable to New Zealand for at least three of the last four years. Singapore is one of them

Australia:
Just need to pass Australian Medical Council Exam
Australian Medical Council

HK
HK Medical Licensing Exam
The Medical Council of Hong Kong

US
USMLE
United States Medical Licensing ExaminationŽ

Canada
About the examinations

UK
Plabs
GMC | Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB)

I think you just google where you want to work and see whether the qualification is recognised or not

Having your degree or qualifications does not mean you will be allowed to practise. For Singaporean doctors, common places they go to are Malaysia, HK, Brunei, UK and also lots of 3rd world country who are happy just to have any kind of doctor. Australia and NZ are somewhat more protective of their turf and may not grant you a license.

Postgraduate degrees from that country is not a guarantee. Eg. You can get your specialist certification from Australia but you may not work there just because you have passed it there.

UK is getting worse for non-EU residents. Some Asians were literally terminated on the spot when the EC hiring laws were enforced. Now they have more European doctors who cannot speak good English.
