LAE job is not for everyone. You really must love to work with your hands. I don't know why some companies are looking for degree holders... the nature of the job and the looks of it is quite "blue collar" and that turns off some people already.
It's not an aircon job in the office designing airplanes or moving 3D objects in a CAD program on a computer.
It's a really nuts-and-bolts job that will only be enjoyed by those who love to work hands-on with mechanical or electrical things, and have the hand-skills to boot.
On the other hand, some people do love the shift nature of the job, in the sense that you really leave the work behind at the 'office' once you end your shift. Someone else takes over and completes it. This is unlike a graduate level job in an office where your assignment will dog you all the time even after office hours and worse, you're not paid for overtime! LAE job pays well for the overtime.
Having said that, the prospects for LAE job is good - but only if one looks beyond singapore and prepared to relocate. Experienced LAEs are much sought after in the mid-east.

Siaec currently only accept degree holder into their engr program, while dip will be gg for their cat A license program. St aero so called" engr program " accepting dip, is this same as the siaec cat A progarm? Btw I am another industry "semi con" having interest in aviation but this entry requirement is driving me nut. Based on what I see, dip = cat A Lae and degree = cat B Lae.

Cat A license is only a certifying technician, not LAE. A technician works under supervision of LAE. A technician does routine jobs - like servicing the aircraft during turn-around and ground handling/towing - and is not legally allowed to perform troubleshooting work or release the aircraft. Of course, pay and prospects are lesser than LAE.
If you have a diploma and still want to go straight for Cat B license, then you need to choose a company that will give you the opportunity to do so. Be prepared for the long haul though, as there is a bond. But once you get your license and aircraft/engine type qualifications, just nice your bond is over, and you have a whole world out there for opportunities to move.

Those who just joined the above mentioned company, good luck to you guys. This company sucks as the day goes by.Morale is getting lower, quality is getting lousier.Even the management is only interested in their own KPIs. Those with degrees better find better options while you are still young.Forget about becoming some managers or personal secretary to some managers posts because all these positions are for useless suckers and brain dead.Maybe join ST better

To be frank, zero chance. One of the first thing they check during the medical check up before hiring you will be color blindness. If tested positive, you will be rejected.

Hi everyone,
I am a poly-graduate in 2012 and working as a techinian in a aviation company. I wish to join ST Aerospace's 2014/2015 TLAE program. One of the requirements is "Singaporean who completed NS". I was wondering if I am eligible to get in. I am a SPR with a good Aerospace dipolma.
Anyone can enlighten me? Thx.
