Context:
I am in my final semester in NUS - expecting to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (2nd Upper Hons). Medically-fit Singaporean male.
Issue:
I applied for the positions of DXO (Defence Relations) and DXO (Media Relations) in late January. I remembered that I had to send in a manual application because the portal was under maintenance.
The reply from HR was that if I am shortlisted, I will be notified within 2 weeks. However, it has been slightly past that deadline and still no news.
Thus, is it common for people to fail in their job application even before Psychometric Test?

Hey there!
Pretty sure most people, esp local u grads, will get to go through PT. already not many folks want to work for
Mindef.. hahaha!
For myself ... I sent in an application for DXO post in December 2017, and only got my email to attend Psychometric in late-Jan 2018. PT was scheduled for 31 Jan somemore. However, I only got replies from HR in mid-Mar asking for my showreel (not even an interview). The first interview was scheduled late-Mar. However the subsequent follow-ups were quite fast as HR and unit IC informed that not many people applied for the position (technical specialisation). Received a verbal offer and salary confirmation only just (late-Apr already!) and probably will only start work in late May or even early June 'cos security clearance.
Basically, they take a heck lot of time. (Unit IC said her wait was 1 full year before she got the offer) So unless this is something you really want to do, and/or you have side incomes while waiting, do go on and apply got a lot of other jobs to make sure you secure employment.
